Paying for Claude with a prepaid virtual card

Short answer

Anthropic accepts credit and debit cards for Claude Pro and Max and doesn’t mention prepaid cards for those plans. Its Team plan page does list prepaid cards. Your billing address must match the country the card was issued in, so pick a card from the country you bill from.

Payment methods
Credit and debit cards for all purchases. Plans bought in the iPhone or Android app are billed by Apple or Google. PayPal and Venmo are not accepted.
Prepaid cards
Accepted payment methods are credit, debit, or prepaid cards. That line is from Anthropic’s Team plan billing page. For Pro, Max and the API, Anthropic lists credit and debit cards and does not mention prepaid cards.
Billing currency
Pro is $20 a month in the US, with pricing in your local currency where supported. Tax is calculated from your billing address. To change currency you cancel at the end of the term and subscribe again.
Card and country
You must be in a supported billing location, and your billing address must match the card’s country of issue. Anthropic notes that even a missing accent or a misspelled street can cause a decline.
Card checks
Complete the card issuer’s 3D Secure check, such as a one-time code sent to your phone.

How to pay for Claude with a Cardn3 card

    Get your card

    Deposit crypto, buy a card, pay its activation deposit, and wait for the card details to appear in your Cardn3 dashboard.

    Type the card number, expiry date and CVV, and the billing address shown with your card details, exactly as written.

    Cover every charge

    A prepaid card can only pay what it holds. Keep enough balance for each charge, including tax and any currency conversion.

A new card on an existing plan is charged from the next renewal. API credits are bought in the Claude Console under Settings › Billing, by a member with the Admin or Billing role.

Troubleshooting

Why Claude declines a card, and what to do

A declined payment doesn’t take money from a Cardn3 card. Work through these in order.

    Billing location not supported

    Anthropic first asks you to check its list of supported billing locations. If your country isn’t on it, no card will go through.

    Address doesn’t match the card

    Use the billing address shown with your Cardn3 card details, spelled exactly the same. Anthropic says a missing accent or a misspelled street can be enough to decline.

    3D Secure wasn’t finished

    Complete the one-time code step from the card issuer before closing checkout, then try again.

  4. 4

    Not enough balance

    The card must cover the plan price plus tax, which Anthropic works out from your billing address.

  5. 5

    A temporary error

    Anthropic notes that some declines are temporary technical issues. Wait a little and retry once before you change anything.

Cardn3 has a card named for Claude, plus US dollar Visa and Mastercard cards. Anthropic wants the billing address to match the card’s country, so check that before you buy.

Claude payment questions

Does Claude accept prepaid cards?

For Claude Pro and Max, Anthropic’s help pages say it accepts credit and debit cards and don’t mention prepaid cards. The Team plan page says credit, debit or prepaid cards are accepted. Ask Cardn3 support before you buy if you plan to pay for Pro or Max with a prepaid card.

Can I pay for Claude with PayPal?

No. Anthropic says it does not accept third-party payment processors such as PayPal or Venmo.

Why does Claude decline my card when the details are right?

The causes at the top of Anthropic’s list are an unsupported billing location, a billing address that doesn’t match the card’s country of issue, and an unfinished 3D Secure check. Anthropic doesn’t receive detailed decline reasons from banks.

Where do I change my card in Claude?

On claude.ai, open Settings, then Billing, and select Update next to your payment method. The new card is charged from the next renewal.

What does a Cardn3 card cost?

Card prices run from $100 to $350. A one-time $5 issue fee is included and the rest is loaded as card balance. There is no monthly fee. After purchase, each card type needs an activation deposit of $100–$200.
